That was the Week That Was - August 13th: Twitter's Downfall and Kick-Ass Bloggers
The tooth continues to give me grief, as I was forced back into the dentist’s chair for the third time in under a week to have my gum redressed. Now my mouth has the constant taste of iodine. If there’s one thing guaranteed to make me grumpy and uncooperative, it’s tooth-ache, so the world better stay out of my way as my mouth heals over the next few days – you have been warned…
Twitter’s Downfall
This was the biggest laugh of the week for me. The movie ‘Downfall’ is a hugely powerful film that everyone should see. This recaptioned version is not so powerful, but is just hilarious. If you’ve ever suffered the fail whale, you’ll love this.
Thanks to Mark Pesce for, ironically, tweeting this one.
Kick-Ass Bloggers
The fantastic Word Webbing has awarded CopyWrite a Kick-ass Blogger award. Humbled and sheepish, I am happy to know my contributions to blogging are appreciated and my readers enjoy my frantic scribblings.
Of course, as with all these sorts of awards, they rely on a kind of viral back-slapping, requiring me to pass on the award to five other exceptional blogs of note.
So, without further ado, pass the envelope please…
- The Rhodester Chronicles
- Sharp Words
- Smithereens
- Veal Mince (Had to get a mention – it’s my editor, so play nice)
- Funky Love Bunny (This is a very old friend of mine and yes, his name really is Funky Love Bunny – legal papers and everything.)
And Finally…
Listening to… ‘Nine Inch Nails – The Slip’. I love how Trent Reznor decided to live up to his calls for more BitTorrent sharing of music by releasing his latest album for free through the pirate networks. It’s still available for free download from nin.com, where 1.5 million people have already accessed the high-quality files. And the best thing? He still sold a shed load of CDs when it hit stores last month, showing that consumers are willing to pay if they like the music.
Reading… ‘Fables – The Good Prince’. Fables is one of the best Vertigo comics around right now, telling the ongoing saga of the mythical characters of our favourite fairy tales decamped and holed up in New York. Definitely not for kids, but instead for highly imaginative adults.
As you were. Class dismissed.

Man, I feel for you on the tooth thing. The only thing I hate worse than the phone is a dentist.
Thanks for the shout-out...almost made me blush, it did.
Hope you feel better.
:)
WOW, whoa, hey! Thanks, man! So.. what do I do now? Do I put a widget on the sidebar and nominate 5 more? Or something?
It's entirely up to you if you want to, but yes. The idea is to obviously mention your award with a link back to me and back to the originator of the award (the Kick-Ass Blogger image links back to them in my post) and nominate 5 more. It's basically an exercise in link-love to deserving blogs.
I've also added you to my blogroll as I seem to be dropping by your place more often.
..cool,thanks.
You be on mine too, for the same reason. Mine is a cool little snippet of code that reflects what's in my Google Reader. So, I actually read what's in my blogroll.
thanks heaps Jon. I only just found your post. I'll forward the linking love
