Lessons in Blogging
This blog was originally set up as a learning project for me as I recently started work for an online marketing company as a copywriter of websites as well as writing articles for newsletters on ecommerce.
I've always preferred to learn by doing and so it was an obvious decision to create my blog so that I would be writing from first-hand experience, rather than rehashing someone else's words. But I'm the first to admit that I'm no web designer.
I spent weeks struggling with Movable Type templates trying to integrate the design with my main website at www.jonathancrossfield.com, and the end result is still full of bugs and little errors screaming for me to take the time to fix them up.
My second blog project, Christmas Watch, was a much easier process, having learned from my mistakes. Although there are still a few tweaks needed there, the overall appearance is still solid and serviceable.
Therefore, I aim to redesign the templates for CopyWrite over the next few days with the lessons I've learned from succeeding with Christmas Watch. This will mean some serious rehashing of code and no doubt a certain amount of swearing for the next few evenings, but as the site has started to attract some traffic, it would be counterproductive to not present the best site possible.
So if in the next few days, the site seems a little problematic, or images fail to load or general freakiness occurs, it may be just a part of the redecorating. Hopefully, by next week CopyWrite will be stronger and more presentable ready for 2008.

Day one of the redesign, and nothing's broken yet.
Hopefully the new look will enhance usability of the blog.
Just a few stylistic css tweaks to finish (notably the comments section as I'm sure you've noticed...)
